Global
LT, a leading provider of language and cultural training, translation and
destination services, has been selected by the University of Michigan Graduate
School of Information to participate in a 14-week client-based course entitled
Contextual Inquiry and Project Management, according to Suzanne Smulsky, Global
LT's Marketing & Communication Director. Global LT is headquartered in
Troy, MI. The
course requires Master's students to perform an in-depth analysis of a process
flow of organizational information use from several perspectives.
According to the School of Information, graduate students, working with a
participating company, seek information flows within the organization that could
be more effective or efficient and analyze them, identify key issues, and
provide a set of recommendations for improvement to the participating
company. ‘Participation
from local organizations is critical to our SI 501 Contextual Inquiry and
Project Management course. It is a win-win for students and the
participating clients. Students get a great real world opportunity to
learn how information influences critical processes within organizations.
Clients get a novel perspective on ways to address process problems from an
interdisciplinary team of students', states Ixchel Faniel, Assistant Professor,
University of Michigan School of Information. According
to Ms. Smulsky, 10 Global LT employees will work with the U of M
team. ‘The Global LT team is really enthusiastic about
partnering with U of M. It's a great school. Our employees work hard
and, although we believe our processes are robust; we're always looking for ways
to improve. This really is a win-win.' About
