According to Jasmin Cooper, Global LT Translation Department Manager, the purpose of the seminar is to enhance the marketability of the area’s linguists who are experiencing difficulty finding employment in the current business environment. ‘The topics we’ll address cover the gamut from resume writing to understanding the latest in translation technology.’ The idea for the seminar sprang from a conversation with the Michigan Translators/Interpreters Network (MiTiN), who shared with Ms. Cooper the difficulties the Michigan linguists were having. States Ms. Cooper, ‘Evidently, there is a perceived gap in skills between what our Michigan talent possesses and what employers want. We’re just trying to help bridge that gap. We value our Michigan talent and rely on them to help us deliver our services. When they’re better; we’re better.’ The seminar is offered at no charge and will be conducted on Friday, February 19, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. EST at Global LT headquarters in Troy, MI. For those interested, but who can’t attend in person, the training will also be available via live webinar.
